摘  要：In the Greek definition, ‘Antipodes’ means“having the feet opposite.” As an American artistworking in China, the experience made tangiblemeditations on our collective differences andsimilarities with respect to culture, politics, and waysof navigating these current times. To meet and workwith Chinese artists has brought profundity to my artand life. Just as the term, ‘Antipodes,’ suggests anapt metaphor, so too did my first journey to China in1997; there would be no looking back. Both my‘self’ and, consequently, my art were foreverchanged. In many ways my art-making, asexperience, is an on-going search for a sense ofnewness. Foreign travel and interactions are mirrorsof the artistic experience.
